The
single sound source used in this piece is a wave breaking on pebbles,
recorded last summer in Lunan Bay, Scotland. My aim was to use this
sound such that its origin is recognisable, but it sounds unnatural,
taken out of context, as if it were in a glass case. I wanted to find
as many ways as I could to examine a single sonic instant, to produce
a one-minute etude that distils the essence of a moment of memory.
Last Minute
was a contribution towards a series of soundscapes made during a collaborative
residency at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art.
