Joseph has collaborated with the London-Based performing arts research unit shinkansen over a number of years. His varied roles have included sound/multimedia artist, DJ/VJ, facilitator and multiskilled participant in an interdisciplinary production/research process. The projects he has been involved in have included: Koerper Technic/Body Technology, Podewil Arts Centre, Berlin 1998 - a collaborative arts project involving a large number of artists working across disciplines, using a variety of unusual spaces around Berlin to produce site-specific, installation and performance works exploring the use of interactive multimedia technology Club Research, Club Sache Karl, Essen 1999 - at the crossing point between performance and clubbing, Club Research is an ongoing series of events taking the professional production of theatre/live-art and the technological advancement in clubs to explore a future ecologies for infotainment and performance. Cellbytes 2000, Institute for Studies in the Arts, Arizona State University - a series of 1 to 3 minute performances for simultaneous live and web presentation. The performances took place between two spaces at ASU and fed into a live webcast. They were developed through an interauthorship process involving group research into the structures and dramaturgical needs of live interaction across remote stages.
